Choose your grumpy champion!
Chilly weather and pumpkin spice aren't for everyone. These Wyoming toads prefer to burrow down into their hibernaculum (aka cozy toad hole used to keep warm and safe during hibernation).
The Wyoming toad once flourished in the wetlands and rivers of southeastern Wyoming. Now, it is one of the most endangered amphibian species in North America. In the wild, adults emerge from hibernation in May or June, after daytime temperatures reach 70 degrees Fahrenheit. But these cute lil grumps are part of a captive breeding program at Saratoga National Fish Hatchery designed to help recover the species for future generations to love.
