Currently on auction via @drbrandtfoundation here in Miami for #artbasel The painting depicts a mischievous child and his stoic but powerful mother. The piece explores the gentle discourse on the relationship between a mother and child as well as the many nuances of it. The warrior-mother is battle-harden and beautiful, she’s lived an amazing life while her youngling is bright-eyed and full of energy, unaware of the world that awaits him. Influenced by the fisherman towns in Jamaica and Japan, I decided to let those geographical locations be the inspiration for the local.
