Had the privilege to collaborate on a traditional mask workshop by @mulatopinto and @santiagomendezarv in La Marroquina, Venezuela. Gabriel and Santiago’s work reflects a profound admiration of Venezuelan culture, tradition and ancentral codes. Through their devoted research they have been able to celebrate and recreate traditions that have deterriorated in time through the country’s social and economic hardship. Their work is cross disciplinary. It navigates various channels of comunicating their heritage, from photography to installation work, music, video art, etc... but the most intimate and essential way they pass down their heritage is through workshops and conversations. Their mask workshop is intended to inspire Venezuelan youth to use the tools of traditional imagination and awake ancentral codes in the hearts of the next generation. ——— 📸 @algotopico
