I’m extremely excited to share a project I reported, wrote and photographed for the BBC. While Parasite tells the story of the poor Kim family, who entangle themselves in the lives of the wealthy Parks, I wanted to spotlight the dynamic of haves and have-nots in Seoul that weren’t portrayed in the film. In Seoul, banjihas are where thousands of young people end up living, while they work hard and hope for a better future. The inequality suffered by young is shown in many places in Seoul and its lack of affordable housing is one example. The greatest challenge to reporting on the lives of banjiha dwellers in Seoul was to find subjects who were willing to open their homes to me. I’m grateful to my subjects who agreed to talk and to be photographed. Their openness and humor breathe life into this story. Click the link in my bio to check out the full story! #parasite #bonghive
