Today is National CROWN DAY- A celebration of Black Hair Independence. 👸🏾👑 In honor of CROWN Day- @dove hosted an event where I taught a lovely group of women how to celebrate and amplify their CROWNS with the right products and new styling techniques. Swipe for some of their experiences in my chair. “The CROWN Act, which stands for “Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair,” is a law that prohibits race-based hair discrimination, which is the denial of employment and educational opportunities because of hair texture or protective hairstyles including braids, locs, twists or bantu knots.” To think in 2022, we are still having conversations about how black women should be wearing our hair. 😒 Just a few short years ago- I would get so much push back from magazines when wanting to place braided styles on their covers; thankfully, I work with some fearless women that were ready to change the conversation along with me; I vow to continue celebrating black hairstyles on the highest of platforms unapologetically.
