Omfffffffffg thank god for @fashiontofigure!!!!!! Without them, I would’ve had nothing to wear to @essencefest. I was having difficulty confirming a last minute order with them and in the final hour their influencer team reached out and made my dreams come true. Shout out to @montezmickles for being the Sagittarius who can make lemonade out of my lemons & @kylee.roberts & @catvonnegut for making sure I had/have/will have everything I need to be a bad bitch. Also, shout out to my glam team! What the whole fuck!!!! These bitches did the damn thing and when I tell you that I did not make it easy for them! Look, I have been so low key jet lagged this whole trip- at the start of day two, I literally could not keep my eyes open during hair and makeup. Well, that was also because @angell.foster & I stayed out til all hours seeing @janetjackson on the main stage but I mean...were we supposed to miss the legend that is Janet? I think not. Anyway, @theglamgallery & @patriciaambroisemakeup glammed me up that morning while I was LITERALLY asleep and I woke up looking like a different person. I told @angell.foster that I looked like someone I’d never met and she asked who it was and I said “I don’t know but I bet I will by the end of today.” And that’s exactly what happened. I learned a lot about myself at Essence. I felt accepted and included by my black sisters in a way that I have been craving since childhood. And I’m a little embarrassed to admit that I am literally crying while writing this all out but I am a double cancer in the heat of cancer season so y’all already know what it is. Thank you, @angell.foster. You are an artist after my own heart. Thank you for chronicling. Thank you for remembering. Thank you for holding it all.
