36 yards of fabric and 150 hours later...this one was a special one. ✨ I remember turning to @natifabulous1978, “Teefer, you sure? Ok then, we doing this!” I mean, we were a bit hesitant about how an Ankara gown would be received on a stage where usually satins and sequins ruled the runway. But guess what? Our Ankara dress won! The dress was mostly hand stiched, as you can see and every gem and appliqué piece was placed by hand also. Thennn we built the metal neck piece and arm pieces from scratch. (Shout out to my supplier who even went as far as East Asia to source me some of these materials.) Shout out to the beautiful @shadz.vc for gracefully floating across the stage and to Natifa for trusting me to design and execute the vision.
