Moments of Survival #mentalhealthawarenessmonth : • 11/24/96: ER C-section due to #nuchalcord (“umbilical lynching”) • 2004: ER appendectomy • 2013-2015: multiple suicide attempts (traffic run-in / wrist cuttin’ / overdose / more “hangtime”) ~~ I promised myself I wouldn’t still be here. It’s the only promise I have ever cared to break. ~~ My brain be tryin’ me (#survivorsguilt is too real...) but what a time to breathe. Truly. To exist in the Roaring 20s of this 21st Century after generations of cultural suppression, “barreled-crab” communities, blatant oppression, & bold audacity - I’m not the only one who thought I didn’t deserve “alive”. What a subversion! Now non-subservient to anything but Spirit, I smirk at “process”, inclination of over-thought ceasing to pause progression. Yes, growing “pains”, demanding respect for one’s evolution. What a wild time this Life has been let alone May’22 but my God, I can only ponder, “What will tomorrow bring?” Unpromised yet hopefully-sure.
