#101daysofvignettes, Day 71: I’m really close to wrapping up a fun styling shoot, and through the process, I’ve discovered some new styling arrangements in the house. The addition of this casual rattan vase, with the antique mirror, traditional console, midcentury chair and modern lamp and art is creating the perfect mix: Quick styling tips: 1. Mix it up for a collected/layered look: old and new; high and low; and found/vintage pieces. 2. Add various textures for movement and interest. 3. Think about light (it’s not just lamps - natural light and even the mirror acts as a light source as it bounces/reflects light). 4. Keep a cohesive color palette in your space. (Note: makes moving decor easy in your home as the color palette is consistent.) 5. Play with scale/height/levels. Don’t forget the verticals, negative space and varying the levels. 6. And...BONUS TIP: Add something fun/quirky/odd Anything that’s a conversation starter. (E.g. the art piece). The rattan vase was not something I would have initially thought to place here, but I discover new things all the time playing (or, rather, working, but it feels like play). Also, can we talk about the pop or orange from the mum’s? It’s sure giving me all the fall feels, getting me excited for my birthday around the corner and the premiere of Hocus Pocus!
