Dholki Part 4: Friends 🪩🌹🚕 Valentine’s Day is the perfect day to continue sharing the highlights from my Dholki. Desi weddings are an, “all hands on deck,” event, so everyone that joins contributes to making the evening special. The night was full of love thanks to my beautiful friends. Although I got help from dozens of people, I wanted to give some shout outs to my friends for everything they did to make a January Dholki in Iowa the warmest, most vibrant night I could have asked for. My friends Anger and Abook set up the venue with my family (which included 10+ boxes of decorations). Apoorva brought the roses you see in my hair and helped all the girls drape their dupattas (scarves). Noel, Nathan and Sarah found a desi wedding song and coordinated dance moves all on their own for their performance and learned it the night before. Bernardo drove 6 hours from Wisconsin and learned a dance with Allie IN THE CAR on the way to the function. Mike came from Minneapolis and pulled aunties out of their chairs onto the dance floor (impressive), Pareen took the most beautiful wedding photos I could have asked for and my sweet friends Alicia and Elisheba taught me a dance the week of to perform with them. My heart is full of gratitude for the people in my life. I don’t think anyone could deserve friends as incredible as mine are - but I am so thankful to have them.
