"A common myth is that you need spend big bucks on retinol just for it to ‘work’. OG followers would know that’s been like 2 years of me raving about the @olayau Retinol 24 serum. I think it’s one of Olays best products. For a top-level understanding- basically, the product is formulated with both pure retinol and a derivative called retinyl propionate. After being absorbed into the skin, both forms must be converted to retinoic acid before they can provide any skin benefits. Basically, retinoic acid works deep within the skin by helping to boost collagen synthesis, increasing cellular turnover, improving elasticity and repairing the connective tissues. In terms of results, the key benefits of consistent use would be things like- helping to minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, helping with uneven skin tone, improving skin firmness, and minimising the appearance of enlarged pores. The difference with the Olay retinol and every retinol product is that in the Olay one, another key ingredient is niacinamide- a powerhouse ingredient (one of my favourite skincare ingredients ever). Think- helping to repair the skin barrier, working to reduce inflammation, breakouts, blotchiness... the list goes on. Even better, the formula is gentle enough that it won't irritate your skin.
