Via @danaemercer ・・・ This ‘trend’ worries me so much. It worries me for teen boys. It worries me for men. It worries me full stop. Grown women have started editing their FACES to look like teenagers — while keeping their adult bodies. One account that does this has 4.4m followers. Another has started; they now have 1m followers. Both of them feature pics that are highly, highly ‘suggestive’. I chose the most ‘dressed’ ones I could find. Technology makes this ‘transformation’ so easy to do. I can change my face into that of a teenager in a few simple clicks. It’s awful. And I think it will only get worse. Clearly there’s a ‘successful’ formula here — and my instinct is that we are going to see more and more accounts like these opening up. So what can we do? I don’t want to tag these accounts. I don’t want to drive any kind of audience their way. But I do want to open up a conversation that this is happening. It’s happening more and more. Teen boys are being fed increasingly unrealistic standards. We need to talk to them about it. Tell them that the Internet is not real. Teach them to be kind, to be careful with what they consume. And fight to make social media a safe, a SAFER space. For them. And for all our littles. x #selflove #bodypositivity #editing
