BIRTH STORY 🤍 this labor was a beautiful, magical whirlwind. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On november 29th (remi’s actual due date), I woke up feeling a little crampy and thought this could be the start of labor, but I decided to go on about my day, went out for brekkie + smoothies to distract myself and came back home just in time for a little family sunset walk. My dad had just arrived into town and I truly believe Remi waited for grandpa to be here with me shortly before joining us. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The cramping was pretty consistent throughout the day — but around 7pm, J & I were starting to get Nalu ready for bed when all of a sudden I felt a strong contraction. I was convinced this would be an all night kind of labor... but little did I know I would have our little babe in my arms 3 hours later. By 9:30pm, J realized how intense the waves of contractions continued to come so he called my midwives. He began to fill up the pool and set up our bedroom as we waited for them to arrive. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I spent my labor mostly on the floor in different positions or hip swaying while hanging on to J. Nalu kept hugging and kissing my belly saying “mommy mommy, baby brothers coming out” 🤍 it was beautiful, it was painful, I felt like I was breaking, and I felt the greatest surges of love and excitement. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ At 10:30pm, right as my midwives arrived, I started feeling the fetal ejection reflex and immediately got in the pool. I felt Remi’s head crowning, we were so so close to meeting him! I let go of all the tension, felt so relaxed as I floated in the pool and I was just letting my body breathe him out. 10:41pm Remi Bo slid right out and completed our little family forever 😭 our hearts were bursting!!!!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Aside from having the most incredible birth team, I give the biggest thank you to my husband for being my absolute rock. We didn’t think things would happen this quickly haha, but between running around setting up our bedroom, filling up the pool, feeding and hydrating me every few minutes, being my emotional support through every contraction — he was also able to capture these few snaps I will treasure forever.
