Story Time I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting and stumbled on this memory. The year was 2009 ( i think); I was collaborating with a photographer duo; they were commissioned to shoot @missjillscott new album cover and called to pitch me for hair. In 2009, I was still assisting other artists, doing shoots to build my portfolio; I’d worked with some celebs on shoots, but this was one of the most significant opportunities happening for me at the time. I honestly did not think I would get the job, but Jill decided to take a chance on an up-and-coming artist, and the photographer’s believed in me enough to put my name in the conversation 🥺🙏🏾 So obviously, the video is somewhat blurry. Still, I want to post this up to remind myself and anyone that is finding themselves struggling with your journey during this time that it is definitely a marathon and never a sprint. You will have setbacks, but you have to continue laying the groundwork and trust the path you are on( this applies to all things). It’s hard not to notice what other people are doing, mainly because we are all on these platforms - trust that although your path may look different from others … it’s designed only for you. Don’t block your blessings because you are chasing someone else dream. Stay in your zone, get to know yourself, and it’s never too late to switch gears. Looking back and realizing how much LIFE has taken place since this shoot.🤯 I have to remind myself constantly to slow down so that I can zoom out and see how beautiful the journey has been. I never want to forget my path and those who have helped pull me up along the way 🙏🏾 THANK YOU!
