Thinking back to 2019 while we were touring FTA, my most vivid memories consist of laying awake on the bus and wondering what Whitney LP3 was going to sound like. I’d be still buzzing off tequila with the 1st Gen airpods on alternating between the new Ariana and the most recent Arthur Russell (Iowa Dream) — truly staring into the void of our careers 😂 Back then it was abundantly clear that we wanted to harness more of ourselves and more of our tastes into a record but where would that take us? How could we make it a true step forward? Obviously, the next couple of years had everyone’s heads spinning but if I could airdrop 2019 bus-insomniac Julien ‘SPARK’ — He would be crying the purest tears. Tears of actual discovery and fulfillment. A milestone moment in our lives and a record that lives and breathes and slaps! People always say this but making ‘SPARK’ completely renewed our faith in the creative process. Both together and separately. It brought us closer to the heart and soul of what we do and created so much momentum.
