지난 2020년 바라캇 컨템포러리에서 국내 최초 개인전을 선보인 작가 하산 하자즈의 My Seoul Rock Stars 메이킹 필름을 공개합니다. 빌리 아일리시, 카디 비, 마돈나, 패리스 힐튼과 같은 세계적인 스타들과도 협업한 하산 하자즈의 이번 게릴라 촬영 프로젝트 My Seoul Rock Stars는 그간 마라케시, 런던, 뉴욕 등 전 세계 다양한 문화권의 예술가에 주목한 하산의 My Rock Stars 시리즈에서 확장된 My Rock ‘서울’ 프로젝트입니다. Hassan Hajjaj - My Seoul Rock Stars는 음악, 미술, 영화 등 한국이 세계적인 문화 예술의 중심지로 주목 받는 현재의 시점에서 독창적인 작업 세계가 이루어지는 흥미로운 과정을 직접 경험할 수 있는 기회입니다. 지난 9월 진행된 My Seoul Rock Stars 촬영에는 한국의 언더그라운드 DJ이자 프로듀서 Maalib, 한국의 젊은 세대의 패션 문화를 구축해 온 패션 디자이너 MISCHIEF 서지은 대표, 시각 예술과 디자인의 영역을 넘나들며 활동하는 강문식 디자이너, 현대음악과 무용을 한국의 전통 음악과 결합하여 독특한 음악세계를 펼쳐나가는 뮤지션 해파리, 그리고 클럽 Cakeshop Seoul의 디렉터 Samuel Swanson이 참여하였습니다. 하산 하자즈의 이번 My Seoul Rock Stars는 서로 다른 문화의 양가성, 그 사이에서 일어나게 될 새로운 예술 현상을 창조하면서 또 하나의 창조적인 문화적 정체성을 구축하는 계기를 볼 수 있는 자리입니다. Barakat Contemporary is pleased to release the making film of My Seoul Rock Stars, a project by Hassan Hajjaj, who had his first solo exhibition in Asia at Barakat Contemporary in 2020. Having collabo rated with Hollywood stars such as Billie Eilish, Cardi B, Madonna, and Paris Hilton, Hajjaj expands the guerilla shooting project My Seoul Rock Stars as the Seoul edition from his original My Rock Stars series that spotlight various artists with diverse cultural backgrounds in Marrakesh, London, and New York. Hassan Hajjaj - My Seoul Rock Stars is an opportunity to experience the artist’s process of constructing his own compelling world in collaboration with the local scenes at this unique time when Korea is being recognized as a cultural hub for music, art, and film. Shot in September, My Seoul Rock Stars features: Maalib, a DJ and producer, Jieun Seo, fashion designer and director of MISCHIEF, Moonsick Gang, graphic designer straddling visual art and design, musician Haepaary who is combining contemporary music and dance with Korean traditional music, and Samuel Swanson, director of the club Cakeshop Seoul.
