Getting creative with contraception. Share this to heighten awareness about reproductive choices. Daily oral contraception pills, rings, patches, shots and implants work well but are not for everyone. I personally love my IUD. I feel super normal emotionally, it's over 99% effective, and if I ever LOST my MIND and wanted another baby, it's reversible. Recently a patient asked me for a just-in-case prescription for the morning-after pill. Known by brand names like Plan B and Ella, the morning-after pill is an over the counter medication used within 3-5 days of unprotected intercourse. It can also be used if a condom slips off or breaks during penetrative intercourse. It works by delaying ovulation or the release of an egg, and by thickening the cervical mucous to help block sperm. The morning-after pill can sometimes be pricey but often if you have health insurance or Medicaid and if you have a prescription, it may be covered at no out-of-pocket cost to you. The morning-after pill is not an abortion pill. It is for pregnancy prevention in a pinch. I don't recommend that anyone use this option as their first choice regular birth control because it can make cycles irregular and cause other side effects if used too often. I'm all about getting creative with pregnancy prevention. What do you think? Bonus points if you can name this movie audio 🤣🎬 Love, #dreverywoman #4thehealthyculture #reproductivechoices #contraception #movietrivia
