When shooting hair any photographer will tell you lighting matters so does the backdrop for example : ✨BACKGROUND- plain white or black background is always better then a busy background or colored background this is because they will take away from the subject this is especially important when trying to show off hair color because colored or busy backgrounds can distract the eye and reflect unwanted colors on to subject changing the color of the actual hair. ✨LIGHTING-ideally natural light is the best but when you don’t have it soft light is better then the harsh light from a ring light that’s not to say ring lights are bad but they change the color of what you are trying to take a picture of. ✨CAMERAS- cell phones vs pro cameras both are ok to take hair photos with but keep in mind that camera phones change the color of the subject you are shooting to what they think it should look like. This is why when I shoot my vivids 98% of the time I use my Fuji I know not everyone has the money, what’s to or even cares enough to get a pro camera so it’s important to edit the camera phone photo as much as possible to make it look as close to the real color as possible.
