No mess wood stripping 🪄
Ok so hear me out:
1. I love antiques but everything from the wood up (cobwebs, dirt, paint and varnish made of who knows what, snot probably) grosses me out or makes me paranoid (mostly talking about lead paint and termites here)
2. I hate mess!! Sanding, stripping, oven cleaner-ing...it’s all messy and I hate it
I started doing this after I covered our newly refinished hardwood floors with plastic and then ripped miles of paint off our baseboards with the Tuck Tape I used so I thought why not try it on everything that comes through the door? If I test a spot and it doesn’t do much then at least know what I’m getting into (plus it’s cleaner than when I started) unlike sanding or stripping where you pretty much have to finish the job if you start it and there’s so much prep and clean up.
I just:
> apply Tuck Tape
> press it on firmly
> wait a couple of minutes
> tear it off
> repeat until I’m happy with the results
You can also experiment with wait times and sand off any excess or stubborn areas by hand. It really varies for each piece and the look you’re going for 💁🏻♀️
