I was really shocked and saddened to hear that Terry Hall has passed away. The Specials were/are part of my generation’s culture and upbringing in the 70’s. Terry had this uniquely powerful presence on stage with a particular dark intensity - contrasted by the incredible energy of the band. Two Tone was at the cutting edge of the youthful anti-racist movement emerging from Coventry and Bristol at that time, when Punk was evolving into all kinds of musical hybrids. It was a moment when young people in the UK called out against racist apartheid and injustice at a time when the Fascist BNP would often show up to cause havoc at gigs. Terry - The Specials and the Two Tone record label stood for racial equality and harmony and they walked their talk. Heartfelt condolences to all his family and friends.
