Does anyone read captions anymore? 🧐 Either way, I’ve decided to bring back my caption series on budget travel, because I’ve had quite a lot of dm’s lately about travel advice. So here we go 🫶 HOW TO MAKE YOUR MONEY GO FURTHER WHILE TRAVELING💰 — Part 1: Travel sloooowwww 🐢 〰️ Rather than going to 8 different locations in a one-month time frame, if you want to travel cheaper, consider spending longer in each location. 〰️ Fun as it is, bouncing around from place to place is way more expensive and quite honestly can cause burnout. But by spending weeks or even a month in a single location, you can score long-term deals with room rates, bike/car rentals, and you’ll get to know all the secret spots where you can find the best cheap eats. 🥙 〰️ To put it into perspective, when Dom and I did our big 2018 Southeast Asia trip, we moved on average every 3 days to a new location. Because of our constant traveling we could never get deals, and to be totally honest, we didn’t give ourselves time to have an authentic experience. It was just too damn fast. I also spent roughly 3x as much money compared to when I’ve spent a full month in one single location💰 〰️ Besides the cost, traveling slow also usually means less stress, it’s better for the environment, and the longer you stay, the more of a connection you’ll feel to your location. All huge perks in my opinion 💛 〰️ 📍 A place like Cebu/Moalboal (pictured) is an amazing option for slow travel because it’s waterfall heaven + it has something for every type of traveler, whether you’re into adventures like canyoneering & scuba diving, city life, or just want to chill by the beach.
