Land of the Lotus Eaters, a group exhibition at Louise Alexander Gallery in Porto Cervo, Sardinia, Italy. Exhibited Artist Highlight: Peter Böhnisch With his sand paintings, Peter Böhnisch (b. 1977 in Waiblingen) explores the possibilities of painting beyond oil on canvas. In his enigmatic scenes, the artist combines traditional pictorial themes with contemporary elements. The beauty of the motifs often contrasts with the coarseness of the surface, while humour and meaningfulness keep each other in balance. The images refer to dreams and tales, thus documenting visions and thoughts. Böhnisch examines various inner and outer states in order to assemble individual considerations into new ideas. After studying at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe with Anselm Reyle and Andreas Slominski, Peter Böhnisch initially devoted himself to large-format drawings, which were increasingly replaced by tempera, wax crayon, pastels or acrylics on canvas and now sand. 🔗 Click the link in our bio to view the exhibition, or contact [email protected] for more information. 1.
