Homemade Nutella 😍🍫🌰 With just a handful of ingredients and a little bit of patience, you can make the most decadent choc hazelnut spread that has THE perfect consistency. I guarantee you, this will have you licking the spoon and blender clean 🫣
Ingredients:
3 cups raw hazelnuts (*see notes)
1 cup pure icing sugar
1/3 cup cocoa powder
Generous pinch of salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp neutral oil **
Method:
1. Preheat your oven to 180°C. Spread the hazelnuts onto a lined baking tray and bake for 10 minutes for until lightly golden.
2. Transfer into process or blender and blitz until it becomes a fine meal. Use a spoon to scrape down the sides (or use a tamper if using a blender) as needed then continue to process on low to medium speed until it becomes a smooth nut butter/paste. Note: This can take between 10-20 minutes depending on your appliance.
3. Add in the icing sugar, cocoa powder, salt and vanilla and process again until smooth.
4. With the motor running, slowly pour in the oil until well combined.
5. Pour into a clean jar and store in a cool and dry area (it will become thicker once it cools). Enjoy!
Notes:
* I stocked up on hazelnuts from @thesourcebulkfoods that were already blanched. If yours has the skin on, place in a tea towel after roasting then rub the skins off and discard.
** I used @thesourcebulkfoods macadamia oil. However you can simply use vegetable oil or canola oil. Hazelnut oil would be epic though! You may also omit the oil if you’re already happy with the texture without it. This will also depend on how strong your processor or blender is!
