I know that a lot of husbands, partners, dads can have a hard time know what to do. This. They can do this. This little tip is SO important - and absolutely within your rights as patient, parent, and families. Pregnant, postpartum, or thinking about baby? Join me @thelabormama for daily education + support! Check this out. Research shows that there is a SIGNIFICANT relationship between environmental factors and labor pain. Stress and anxiety can also be aggravated by things like noise or an unfamiliar environment. When we are stressed, our brains can also release beta endorphins - which can actually SLOW labor by reducing oxytocin. No thanks. Big takeaway? Environment matters - and your partner can absolutely have this be their job while you’re working through your labor and birth. Maybe they haven’t read all the books, watched the course, done the homework you wanted them to. But, they can speak up and say “hey, who are you?” or “hi, how can I help with what you are doing?” This attention to who is in your room (and why) is going to help make you feel safe. And that? That is really the foundation for moving through your birth story. ••••• Who was in your room during your labor or birth? Did you ask anyone to leave?
