Land of the Lotus Eaters, a group exhibition at Louise Alexander Gallery in Porto Cervo, Sardinia, Italy from 2 July – 4 September 2022. Exhibited Artist Highlight: Amy Bessone Amy Bessone (b. 1970) is a Los Angeles-based artist who trawls through art history and wide-ranging representations of the female body to create a personal iconography. Inspiration is drawn from eclectic sources: world mythologies, cinema, tarot, gaming, literature, and art history. The body serves as a literal and conceptual framework. Bessone’s iconography includes archetypal figures such as the warrior, the swimmer, the water-bearer, the intellectual, the reader, bathers, goddesses, monsters, and crones. They populate gardens, islands, jungles and grottos. Alongside the landscape and figures, a recurring cast of architectural forms often materializes. Artists from clockwise; 1.
