I can’t count how many times since I started my fashion “journey” I’ve gotten a reminder that I am not fitting in. In fashion I’m considered plus size, and I get reminders of that every time I’m at fittings where I don’t fit a size 0 ( eu xxs ) and they “forget” about my size M and there is nothing for me to wear. Brands or agencies has told me many times I fit to work with commercial brands more than high fashion brands, because of my size. I also get daily reminders from followers that I am normal or bigger compared to the others in the fashion industry.
It’s seems to me everywhere I go im being put into a box or being labeled, and I know I’m not the only one. Sometimes I want to give up but then again I’m thinking that the industry needs people that will fight for diversity, equality, and inclusion and we need to demand real change within them. Either as an influencer, model or behind the scenes as creatives.
Fashion doesn’t just sell garments, it sells self esteem and personal identity and It needs diverse and inclusion, weather it’s gender, age, sexuality, disability, size, race or age . I’m hoping to see all of this represented during @nyfw ❤️
