Beyonce called me to say she was hijacking my birthday. I said...”as you wish Queen.” Then I had a counseling session where I realized that in this last year of my life I’ve had the privilege of reapproaching some life and career milestones that previously almost took me under, but this time I’m more fortified, clearer, healthier, and less at the mercy of the noise that’s always around. Somehow, that’s the lesson: going away and coming back can actually mean truly moving forward. The circumstances are familiar — the clothes, the process, the clients, the celebrities, the opportunities, and even the people — but somehow they’re all wholly unfamiliar...because I’m different and so is my vision. I get to see familiar things in a completely different way, and for that I’m eternally grateful. I’m seeing it all more clearly. HBD to me.
