STORYTIME: A few years ago I turned down a full tuition scholarship to one of the top business schools in the country. Crazy AF I know! At that time I told myself I needed business school to be a “successful entrepreneur” but I realized deep down I was only going to grad school to please my parents and to distract myself from the fear of actually committing to entrepreneurship full-time. One of the beauties of the pandemic though was the gift of time. When we couldn’t be outside We had so much time to reflect, to ask ourselves what were we really doing with our lives? Are we truly living in our purpose? Are we fulfilling our divine assignments? For me it was in the wild midst of moving, side hustling with a full time job, avoiding Covid like the plague and trying to plan a wedding that I knew I needed to go back to school — but this time it would be for the right reasons. So multiple research projects, design thinking courses, prayers and a 12,000-word thesis later your girl has finally been awarded a Master’s in UX Design from the University of Creative Arts in London! 🙌🏾Little Liane is in awe of the woman she is becoming: a woman that is brave, passionate and determined to master her craft. This little master’s degree of mine is not only the result of many sleepless nights and coffee runs but rather a true testament to the fact that when you follow and trust your heart, even when you can’t always see the light at the end of the tunnel, you’ll somehow end up accomplishing things that are far greater than you can imagine.
