Today is Native American Heritage Day! Speaking of the many ways to acknowledge and engage with Nisenan Heritage Month, CHIRP just put together a Visibility Through Art Exhibit with selected works from the years 2017-2021 up at the Eric Rood Center, Nevada County. This exhibit will be up through December 31st, and it is an important moment for the Tribe to be visible in a government building. The ERASED Timeline is also part of this exhibit. Currently, there are three separate Visibility Through Art Exhibits up in Nevada County. The current 2022 VTA year's exhibit at 'Uba Seo: Nisenan Arts and Culture, and one of collective years' artworks at @sierracollegencc and this one in the local government building. It is wonderful to see this work created by the Tribe and local Artists over the past 6 years celebrated and visible in such a big way! We hope you find yourself in one or all of these locations to appreciate and learn from these artworks sharing essential stories and history from the Nevada City Rancheria Nisenan. . . . . #CHIRPVTA #VTA #Nisenanarts #puplicart #nisenanheritagemonth #NativeAmericanHeritageDay #awarenessthroughart
