I just hung up the phone with my beautiful father. It’s taken years of self work and deep healing to get to a point where I fully understand him. What I know for sure is that I have his whole face which also means I have my grandmothers face. I love that! He’s a unique fella. Born in Barbados, raised in St. Lucia and England. A carpenter, builder, electrician, nutritionist, professional body builder. He opened a bank account for me when I was a baby and taught me how to deposit my money from birthdays and holiday presents. He showed me the importance of saving and not being wasteful. He wasn’t as present in my life as I wanted him to be but he showed up and always provided. There’s so much more to this story but for now I’m still laughing at our phone call. In his thick Bajan accent he just said “don’t let just any man touch your beautiful caramel skin, make sure he deserves you.” #daddydaughtertime #fathersmatter
