After working on my art for a few years, I learned that my location was less than ideal for the places I wanted my work to go. Where I’m from (956), this was considered the big city. But on that big map of creative work, this was considered a “remote location”. I could have jumped to Los Angeles or New York, but I didn’t want to be far from my family. And I didn’t want to be struggling alone again. When you look for growth, you’ll always have to sacrifice something. After losing the people you love though, your perspective changes. And quite frankly, I feel inspired here. Some people leave and never look back, and that makes them happy. Great for them. But I think there’s a lot to be offered from artists in places like these.
