Found the ✨perfect✨ spot for a hammock? 🚫Please, have a seat. 🌲Bryce Canyon's ponderosa pines might appear ponderous and powerful but in actuality, their fragile bark makes them fairly delicate. In addition, long-lasting drought, bark beetles, and other factors have put the trees under additional stress. 🔨This is why attaching or suspending items from trees in Bryce Canyon is prohibited. This includes all attachment methods - webbing, nails, wire, or chain - and is not limited to hammocks, as clotheslines, slacklines, lanterns, and all other items are also prohibited from being hung from trees. 🌞The colors of Bryce Canyon light up during sunset and sunrise so if you're still looking for a place to rest while soaking in the views, consider other options. A self-supporting hammock frame is allowed as long as you're not blocking pathways or damaging plants and resources. Or you can always take a seat on any of the log benches along the trails. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the view, but think twice about using a hammock! NPS Photo/S. Krautmann (pae, cc)
