FALL + FOOD = a daydream @travelandleisure September issue and frankly, an escape from the relentless August heat. We try to experiment with the food issue each year, mixing up covers (see 2021 ice cream!) and illustration (2020, looking at you @analeovy and your beautiful Oaxaca feast). People don’t come to us for recipes, others do an amazing job of that, but rather to be transported to a place where they can imagine themselves enjoying a delicious meal, a snack, a pause, in a unique environment. Hearing stories of foodways and then meeting the chef, to understand how things are grown or why one spice can transform a dish. Reading about food makes me 😋 and even if I don’t have a trip planned, I can always go out for a wonderful meal in NYC—one of the many benefits of my great city.
