Our society is breaking because we have an economic system that must make profit regardless of society's well-being, for it to maintain itself. Capitalism is not a system that fixes issues in our society, it looks for the best way to profit off issues in society, which causes it to amplify those same issues, and in turn develop the despair we see in people today.
