🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⛰️Support from High and Low⛰️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Every year, we support over 3,500 patients from the Highlands and Islands of Scotland who require specialist care at the @rhcglasgow. One of our fundraisers Lucy recently travelled up north to Stornoway to meet some of our incredible supporters there. Lucy spoke to over 700 pupils across three primary schools Sgoil nan Loch, Sgoil an Rubha, and Stornoway Primary School who were all involved in a very special fundraiser for us earlier this year. In June, the Stornoway community united to walk in memory of eight-year-old Olivia, who passed away in January. For all of her life, Olivia was flown from Stornoway to the Royal Hospital for Children for routine check-ups, after being born with a chromosomal disorder.✈️ ‘Olivia’s Journey’ took walkers on a 20-mile route past the three schools she went to and other important places in her life. With more than 100 people taking part, the community of Stornoway have raised £16,481.76 for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity in Olivia's memory. During her visit, Olivia's parents met with Lucy and were able to present the cheque to the charity. 💜 Lucy was also able to pay a visit to the the MacLeod family who supported the charity through buying an Oor Wullie statue in our 2019 Oor Wullie's BIG Bucket Trail Auction. Their grandson Oliver had a visit to the children's hospital just after he was born and they are delighted to be able to support other young patients like him from all over Scotland. “On behalf of everyone at GCHC, we are so grateful to the community of Stornoway for all their support and kindness throughout the years.
