I decided when I was a teenager that I would go to Harvard Business School. I did everything I could the next 12 years to help my odds of getting in. When the rejection letter arrived, I added it to the box of rejection letters I had received from various sources along the way. I made some changes in my career, and informed the admissions department the next time I applied that I would be back year after year after year until they admitted me. Thankfully the second time did the trick. It was nostalgic being back this weekend for my 20th reunion. I told Kristin that although the campus felt exaclty the same, I have changed so much since then. Careers can be a grind and there have been lots of bumps along the way since I left this place. But as I thought about everything that has transpired, I could not feel more grateful for the journey. I’ve had the chance to grow from some difficult experiences, and while I certainly haven’t loved all of them in the moment, how they shaped me is what I value the most. I went to HBS young and single, and met @kristinandrus the summer I graduated. Being on this journey with her has been a huge part of any successes we’ve had. She’s been an incredible support, inspiration and sounding board. Total team effort!
