A beautiful and well-executed escort display is truly a labor of love for both planner and designer. Here’s the story behind this one: For Tane and Matt’s escort display, we spent lots of time playing and prototyping with @slater_events and @_shiramisu, wanting to come up with something really gorgeous AND practical. We kept in mind guest experience, factored in the mountain winds, and what would look best with the rest of the event design. We wanted to create something that @ashleysawtelle could beautifully shoot. Once we settled on a design, it was time to get to work. @slater_events set to work on finalizing guest seating with Tane while I began on the letterpress table number identifiers. I then lasered guest names on white leather and sewed the leather together with the cardstock table number card. These were then mounted on a [heavy] wooden board wrapped in a tan suede. If you’ve ever created something like this before, you know how much time it takes to get things PERFECTLY centered and straight. I’m really proud of how clean this looks. Oh and don’t forget a lint roller because suede and cut leather tend to shed! My laser broke in the middle of this job and I ended up making great friends with a father/son duo who run a laser shop about 20m from me. Then my sewing needles decided to not corporate so I had to bring in the queen of sewing (my mom) to finish the job. And I certainly don’t trust shipping something this priceless so I packaged it up perfectly and boarded a plane to Denver. SO much work goes into these sorts of photos. We get a lot of inquiries asking to create pieces like this for a fraction of what these actually cost. I’m making it a goal of mine to better educate our industry and clients on how much goes into creating a piece like this. It’s not for everyone, and it’s not for every wedding, but when given the opportunity we love rising to the challenge. Thank you to @theknot for this recent feature in print.
