When I first met Philip Wolff we connected immediately on our shared passion for shears. We talked extensively about the feeling that each component gives to a shear. I remember Philip saying to me “You know more about shears than anyone I know!” That’s a huge compliment coming from him because he seems to know EVERYONE! The thing I love most about Philip is that he is genuinely the nicest, person you could ever hope to meet but he is also fierce at his craft! The other thing that I love about Philip is that he recognized that there was something special about the shears that we create at Zen Master - The blade shapes to help a stylist be their very best and to make their life easier. I am/was a hairstylist and a barber so I not only look at shears from a manufacturers point of view but also a stylists point of view. And for all those reasons - a true artists reasons, Philip chose to work with us. Because he sees what I see in shears. The more we spoke the greater the realization that we should create a shear together. Philip wanted a shear that he could wet cut or dry cut, slice, slide, chip, scissor-over-comb... a shear that does it all! A year, some prototypes & fine tuning) later, the Wolff Shear was born. Philip didn’t choose to run with the sheep. He went with a brand that was all about the craft and artistry... I have so much respect for that. On the release of the Wolff Shear Philip came to Australia's Hair Expo in Sydney in 2017 (before I transplanted to Los Angeles). Philip was like a rockstar there! People were lined up to meet him and to have their photo taken with him and I remember saying to him that your star is just starting to rise; you’re going to grow even more with your skill & your passion. It’s contagious!He did and will continue to do so. He’s extremely passionate about our industry and cares about the people in it. Philip loves to share his knowledge. And with that being said, we’re excited for the @philipwolffhair & @alfredo_lewis National Education tour. Even I want to attend his classes! It has been an honor getting to know Philip and look forward to more of his amazing work and everything he has planned in the future 💫
