Though banned in 20 states and over 100 municipalities in the United States, conversion therapy is widespread in the troubled teen industry. In an effort to "fix" #queer kids, these facilities often instill further trauma, often resulting in: reinforcing depression, low self-esteem, shame, addictive and compulsive behavior, loss of religious faith, self-harm, and suicidal tendencies. Sexual orientation and gender identity are not problems, nor are they something that must be "fixed" in youth.
