WELCOME to the @hotelchelsea in the heart of NYC! A legend, reborn! I was able to do a tour there this week and walked away thinking these three things, for those of you curious: 1. The hotel started in 1884, as an apartment cooperative. As of today, 45 residents are still there—which I think is a hoot. It adds character and also art from previous residents decorates the lobby, which feels like a real departure from staid corporate stuff—refreshing! 2. Owners and hoteliers Sean Macpherson, Ira Druckier, and Richard Born have amazing taste so the rooms feel curated and lovely, from the monogrammed bed linens to the bedside tables and wallpaper and huge tubs. Chic and functional! 3. @elquijotenyc the on-site Spanish restaurant is back up and running with gin and tonics the size of your head. If you like history, and want to be in a place where everyone from W.E.B. Du Bois to Andy Warhol to Mandonna has been, as well as survivors of the Titanic and countless creatives, this is your place! 155 rooms total, not all done yet so expect more to come. @travelandleisure #tlpicks #hotel #nyc
