WHAT IS FACIAL REBALANCING? As we age, our tissues (bone, muscle, fat, skin) thin and sag downwards creating volume loss that leads to shadows and imbalances. Facial rebalancing is a concept that refers to using modalities like (Sculptra, botox, dermal fillers) applied to various aspects of the face to achieve a more balanced and proportional appearance. MY EXPERIENCE I had facial rebalancing done last year. I personally try to stay away from dermal fillers — and leaned into bio stimulators (Sculptra, PRFM — done by Vanessa @thethingswedo.co , and more recently stem cell injections — done by Alex @GOODSKIN ) that stimulate the body’s natural production of collagen to balance out my temples, lateral cheeks, lateral jawline. The results get better as time goes by, peaking at about 3-4 months after treatment and last for around 2yrs depending on how you care for your body/skin. MY SISTER’S EXPERIENCE My sister, who is open to me sharing her experience here online, was concerned with her laugh lines, marionette lines, and forehead lines, so she opted for forehead botox, sculptra in her temples/jaw and chin filler to give more structure to her lower face. She told me in the car after getting botox that she was surprised by how natural it looked, how painless the experience was and how she could see why people do this kind of thing lol. Needless to say, she looks forward to her annual trips out to visit me in LA and get beauty treatments. HOW TO FIND THE RIGHT INJECTOR? I’ve had my fair share of mishaps with aesthetic treatments — mainly because when I started getting cosmetic treatments done I was lured in my discount pricing and assumed a dermatologist/dr title would equate to good results. I know now — ten years of doing aesthetic treatments - that the way to find the best injector is to 1) look at your injectors face. How they look is their aesthetic and 9/10 times will be how they treat your face aka if someone is overfilled, chances are they’re going to overfill you and 2) you want someone who specializes in aesthetics. You want someone who ALL DAY LONG all they do is do injectables because it’s an art as much as it is a science and the more someone practices their art, the better they’ll be.
