A moving paddle out for Roger Clements at Merewether Beach yesterday. One of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do, talk in front of all his family and friends and contribute to Rogers send off. It was so hard because as a kid, Roger cared for me like his own son. Taking me on surf trips, early surfs before school, teaching me many techniques I still use surfing today, and just being Roger. President of @merewethersurfboardclub a record 8 times, President of the Newcastle Surfboard Association for many years, and later President of the Steel City Malibu Club. So being surrounded by his wisdom and leadership as a kid shaped me to who I am today. The most important part though, and I didn’t get there in my speech yesterday because I broke down! He was my Dads best mate! Gonna miss you Rog! 🙏🏽🤍
