“I’ve always felt this sense that I don’t quite belong,” chef Samin Nosrat told us. “But when I’m in my garden, I feel connected to my ancestral lineage. My grandparents had fruit orchards, and when my grandmother would visit us, she’d pack her pockets with grapefruit seeds or whatever else before heading home.
