But it was not about monarchical protocol, nor competing household assignments, nor the unconscious bias the prince says his family exhibited toward his future wife, Meghan Markle.
It was about tailoring for toddlers.
The now-infamous episode, in which Princess Catherine allegedly drove Ms. Markle to tears days before her wedding by criticizing the fit of girls’ bridesmaids dresses, has become one of the most-discussed moments of tension between the families.
