SIRENA During last year i’ve been involved in creating and developing a composition for a new exhibiton space in one of the most iconic towers in BCN: Torre Glòries from Jean Nouvel. In collaboration with @mediaproexhibitions, @mariaarnaldimas and myself with the unmissable programming from Urbez Capablo (thanks @onionlab for the help) and curation from @jldevicente, we created SIRENA, a generative compositon for @miradortorreglories a new exhibition space that helds @studiotomassaraceno cloud cities. For the basement exhibition we developed an AI that creates music reacting to several amount of bcn data information and inputs. Weather conditions, social data, pollution, human activities, or geological inputs can affect paramentres in the composition creating a different piece of music unique and never to be repeated in the same way. Some of them are real time data, daily or monthly but others will only affect the composition once like solar or moon eclipses. These variables interact with different parametres in the composition, from the root note and scale to density of notes f.e. We feeded the project with more than 3000 recordings (from drones, to field recordings) and we created 8 diferent poly instruments based on maria’s voice in order to have a wide range of vocals and sound pallette. The composition is divided in several rooms and the music reacts globally to some variables but some of them will only affect some specific room parametres, depending on the city conditions, having the feeling that you navigate in the mutating composition as you walk through the different rooms. About LAST pic: it was taken from my grandfather’s house. It was the last time I could visit him in his apartment. For many years we watched together the develop of Glòries and El Clot neighbourhood through their window. I can still remember seeing the rising of the tower from their living room. My grandad passed away in november’21 but I know he would had been amazed to see me being part of this. Gràcies avi💔
