How lucky am I to have been able to know and love like this, my sweet Max. Mr. baby, as I called him , passed peacefully in my arms yesterday at home with so much love surrounding him ( and he got a fair share of yummy treats, too ) He walked into my life as a rescue - they called him “Freeway”, he was found running on the 5 and saved by a kind man who fostered him. Abandoned by previous owners, he was welcomed in to my heart with open arms and so many treats. I was just learning how to be an adult, and he was my companion and friend. We walked through so many moments together ; 4 jobs, becoming a stylist , starting a business, 3 apartments, 4 surgeries, a pandemic , a car accident , and so many moments of joy, sadness, heartache, love and lots of laughs. Max was the sweetest boy. If you got the chance to meet him, you knew that. His sweet disposition and loving nature won the hearts of my friends and family who met him. He was always ready to say hello, and loved to cuddle from day 1. When I went through hard moments he was always at my side, and he was the best nurse when I had my surgeries - often guarding me at the foot of my bed or resting his head on my shin to comfort me when I was in pain. It’s always been Erin & Max, and I’m not sure what life is going to look like without him. That’s the cost of loving so much, an absence when they have left this earth. He took a piece of my heart with him to heaven yesterday, and I told him I’d see him soon - and in the meantime he will get to meet some people I loved on earth who will love on him until I can see him again. I love you Maxi , my sweet boy and friend.
