I absolutely love being a father but It’s not a role i ever imagined for myself before it happened. I feel like I am in perpetual catch-up in just trying to get a grasp on what it is to be a human being. So the adage that you’ll never be ‘ready’ to be a parent couldn’t be more true. And even now, 4 years in, I occasionally have the stunning realization that there is no backstage where you can get your wits about before stepping on stage. The show began a long time ago, without rehearsal, without a script even, and it turns out the show is actually improv, also the building is on fire. This is real time. This is all right now and no, they will not be eating what you prepared for dinner this evening.
