Another trip around the Sun ☀️ I thank God for every moment. I never imagined I’d get to where I am today. A few days ago I was moved by the spirit of my ancestors to visit Mount Vernon in Virginia. I had promised myself I’d never visit, but something in my spirit told me I needed to. Prior to visiting, I knew there was blood in the soil and bodies on the grounds, but was completely unaware of the 150+ slaves that are buried in unmarked graves on the property. My spirit immediately guided me to them. I spoke to them. I spent time with them. I prayed for them. I apologized to them. I reminded them that they are loved and never forgotten. As I celebrate the first day of my last year in my 30’s, I do so with the spirit of my ancestors residing deep within me. With the pain of their experiences- experiences that I will never fully understand or comprehend. But I also do-so with the gratitude for their lives and the sacrifices of their lives. It is not lost on me that I would not have the privilege of this life without the sacrifices of theirs. This year is going be a BIG one. I pray I am making you all proud. 🌹🙏🏾
