This is one part of @mrwilley designs: a cast cement coffee table with a top made up of 16 handmade tiles.
Holes in the table base allow the owner to easily rotate, move and swap tiles to create an almost endless number of compositions, making the table
an ever-changing installation.
This is set 1: 'Green/Black' and Matt had a lot of fun playing around with a small cardboard set of these tiles, making different arrangements, and became curious about how many different patterns might be possible with these simple geometric shapes. With a LOT of help (thank you Jane Rosch and Theo Bendit) we discovered there were a staggering 21, 939, 135, 329, 599, 488,000 possible combinations. So just shy of 22 quintillion!
The ability to swap out tile sets encourages the owner to collect different sets created by artists in ongoing collaborations.
