#tbt A little while ago I ran in the @greatlimerickrun to raise money for many an Irish charity. 🫶🏾 I hadn’t trained at all in preparation for said event as I was working long hours and more accurately: couldn’t be bothered. That said, on race day I surprised myself by setting off on a cracking pace overtaking thousands of Limerick’s finest athletes including thousands from neighbouring counties. How?? I hadn’t trained at all!! Here I was, running without pain or care and couldn’t believe how easily I was reeling in the miles. 🏃🏽‍♂️ This racing without prep was a cinch. I hadn’t even stretched beforehand! Who knew how easy this was?! 🏃🏽‍♀️ I was nailing the course...zipping across the Shannon River, zagging past the Gaelic Grounds and all for charity...I gotta do this more often!! 👌🏿 There was a good chance I’d set a new race record if I kept this remarkable pace...huff, huff....🏃🏽‍♂️Crowds lined the streets urging me on... 👏🏾...I checked my splits..⏱I’m gonna do it!! Sports science will be turned upside down by an individual smashing a fun run record without any training...🏃 Yeeeehaaaaaa!!!! Here goes...I’m a natural athlete...I’m gonna do it...I’m gonna wiiiiiiiiiiiiin...that was....until this thing overtook me...............in a pair of jeans👖 From hazy memory I finished well below 6,534th.
